Power Byte Warranty Policy

This policy applies to purchases made directly from Power Byte online. It works alongside your statutory rights under South African consumer law.


⚡ Quick Summary

  • DOA (Dead on Arrival): Report within 7 calendar days for an exchange or refund after inspection.

  • Manufacturer Warranty (New, Sealed Items): Typically 12 months, handled by authorised service centres. We’ll assist with routing.

  • Power Byte Limited Warranty (Certified Pre-Owned): 12 months cover for hardware defects not caused by damage or misuse.

  • Accessories: 3 months unless otherwise stated by the brand.


✅ What’s Covered

  • Manufacturing defects in materials or workmanship.

  • Hardware faults that appear during normal, intended use.


🚫 What’s Not Covered

  • Accidental damage, liquid damage, drops, cracks, bending, burn-in, cosmetic wear.

  • Damage from power surges, incorrect chargers, or non-approved accessories.

  • Software issues, data loss, forgotten passwords, FRP/activation locks, malware.

  • Unauthorised repair, tampering, or altered/removed serial/IMEI numbers.

  • Consumables (e.g., batteries) degrading from normal use beyond brand norms.


🕒 DOA Window (7 Days)

  • If your item is dead-on-arrival or fails critically within 7 days of delivery, contact us immediately.

  • We’ll arrange collection, inspect the unit, and exchange or refund if the fault is confirmed.

  • If no fault is found, the product will be returned to you. Diagnostic/courier fees may apply in no-fault cases.


📦 Warranty Periods by Product Type

  • New, Sealed Devices (phones/consoles/gadgets): Covered by manufacturer warranty (usually 12 months). Repairs carried out by us or authorised service centres. Keep your invoice, box, and accessories.

  • Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) Devices: 12-month Power Byte limited warranty covering hardware defects. Repairs attempted first; if not viable, we replace with an equal device. If replacement isn’t available, a refund is issued.

  • Accessories (chargers, cases, cables, controllers, etc.): 3 months unless otherwise stated on the product page.


📝 How to Log a Warranty Claim

  1. Email support@powerbyte.co.za with:

    • Order number

    • Serial/IMEI number

    • Clear photos/videos of the issue

    • Brief description of the fault

  2. We’ll provide next steps, a return label if applicable, and a case reference number.

  3. Assessment takes 2–7 business days. Manufacturer warranty cases follow the brand’s timelines (repairs can take 7–21 business days depending on parts availability).


🚚 Shipping, Assessments & Fees

  • We cover return shipping for verified defects reported within 6 months of delivery (SA addresses only).

  • If the item is no-fault-found or out of warranty, you’ll be quoted for courier, assessment, and repair costs before work proceeds.


🔒 Data & Backups

  • Back up all data and remove passwords, screen locks, SIMs, and memory cards before sending items in.

  • Power Byte is not responsible for data loss during inspection or repair.


🔧 Remedies

Where a fault is confirmed, remedies may include:

  • Repair of the product, or

  • Replacement with an equivalent item, or

  • Refund, depending on availability and what is reasonable for the product type.
